Description

Rossmax Peak Flow Meter is used to measure peak expiratory flow rate (PEFR), an important indicator of your lung function. Peak Flow Meter should be used for monitoring respiratory conditions such as asthma. Taking peak flow measures every day and keeping a record of the peak flow measures in your "peak flow diary" can help you and your physician make important decisions about your treatment. You should use this meter and set its color zone indicators according to a treatment plan developed for you by your physician. This compact, lightweight and portable peak flow meter from Rossmax has built-in flexible three-zone management system. It also has easy to read numbers with a measurement range of 50-400 L/min. This meter was designed to make following your asthma treatment plan easy. Your doctor will set the color zone indicators to your personalized zones based on your personal best peak expiratory flow rate value (the best peak flow value you can achieve).

BENEFITS

  • Measures how air flows from your lungs in one fast blast
  • Provides information about how open the airways are in your lungs
  • Colour score shows whether or not your condition is getting worse
  • Lets you know if your medication is working
  • Indicates whether you are having an asthma attack
  • Helps you and your healthcare provider identify causes of your asthma at home, or play

HOW TO USE

  • Set red indicator to bottom of scale. Stand up, take a deep breath, place your mouth around the peak flow meter and hold it horizontally, your lips form a tight seal. Blow the air out as hard and as fast as possible. The number where indicator stops is your peak measurement. Note: Coughing and spitting into the meter will adversely affect your reading and should be avoided.
  • Repeat the steps twice more to obtain three readings. Record the highest reading in your daily record chart
  • This meter was designed to make following your asthma treatment plan easy. Your doctor will set the color zone indicators to your personalized zones based on your personal best peak expiratory flow rate value (the best peak flow value you can achieve).
  • Note: Do not change the position of the color zone indicators yourself. If this should occur inadvertently, contact your doctor or specialist nurse for advice.
  • Green - Follow your regular medication plan, and go ahead with normal activities (80-100% of best reading). Yellow - Caution, your asthma might be worsening. Follow your medication instructions to get back to your green zone (50-80% of best reading). Red - Medical alert, get medical advice and attention immediately (
  • Reading should be taken twice a day, first in the morning and at bed time, or directed by your physician. When you blow into your peak flow meter, the indicator will rise to your peak flow value.
